The Captain's Table <CT>
Through the door is a ten foot hallway with pictures of ships on either side in some of the most recognizable images of them. Even the USS Challenger's explosion is portrayed, with the words 'Your courage continues today.' beneath it.
Coming out of the hallway reveals the true homey feel of the tavern has, with a plethora of different people and reploids walking about in it's Victorian design. The tables and insides of the bar all appear to be of a fine oak carved and polished to perfection. At the main bar itself, a friendly white bearded reploid stands serving out virtually any drink you could imagine, from freshly squeezed Orange Juice to anything else you can think of. The only real prerequisite to being here, is that occassionally you might be called on to tell a story to those around.
(Page/@Mail Bastion if you think something cool can be added here.)

Chess Board <Captain's Table>
Card Table
Exits:
Leave <O> leads to Torontreal - Park District.
Kalinka is, at the moment, sitting at one of the larger tables...the place is mostly deserted at this hour of the day, and she has her homework in front of her, working on it.
Slowly walking through the hallway is..aha! Mr. Day Glo Hair! Yes! Sai-Tengu has decided to do a little exploring today, venturing out as far north as he dares. (Tooooo coooold. Brr.)o. He wears his usual outfit as described in his description, accompanied by black jacket, which is buttoned up, presumably because he thinks it's far too cold up in Canada. Sai stops every now and then to inspect a picture on the walls, pondering their meaning. (Humans are always so...damn sentimental... I don't get it.)o. He heaves a sigh and moves on to the photo of the Challenger, looking it over with interest.
Kalinka grins widely when she spots the youth coming through the door. "Sai! Hey, Saigama!" She waves very cheerfully...very happy to see her friend. "I have not seen you in forever, what have you been doing with yourself?"
Sai's head turns, bearing a cheerful grin. Less forced than normal. Yeah. He's chipper. He is without the olive-drab bag today, and so walks unhindered over to Kalinka's table. "Hey hey! Yeah, I know." He chuckles. "I've been around, and stuff. Y'know." Another chuckle. He looks down at the table and draws back in mock horror. "Yaah, work! Studying for that Master's, huh?" He grins. Yes. Life is good. (And Gemini thinks she's an idiot. Pfff.)o.
Kalinka nods, rolling her eyes. "Always. I am doing thesis work...a little each day." She grins again in delight. "It is so good to see you! Are you cold? You do look cold. This place has wonderful hot chocolate, to warm you right up."
Tengu Man chuckles, and moves to take a seat at the table. "Yeah, a little. I've never liked cold places. Food, sure. But I /hate/ cold weather. Hate hate hate it." He gives a small shudder, then brightens. "Hot chocolate sounds good...haven't had that in a /long/ time." And there's that smile plastered across his face. Good thing none of his brothers are here, or they'd be determined to wipe it off.
Kalinka nods, and suddenly reaches over, placing her hand on Sai's. Her hand is remarkably warm! Either that, or Tengu is just...remarkably cold! "Oh -my-! You poor thing, you do not like the chilly weather, do you? Some people are just like that."
Yes. Sai is sensitive. Although...sensitive to what...is in question. He does feel awful cold to the touch, or at least his jacket does. "Yeah. I really don't... guess I'm one a' those people... I like stayin' where it's nice and warm and never drops below 65, y'know?" He laughs.
Kalinka nods, and puts in an order for two hot chocolates. "Well, if you are REALLY cold," she suggests with a wink, "You can come sit right here and I will warm you up!" She adds quickly... "I have...warm cape."
[OOC] Tengu Man chokes. ^<^
Sai-Tengu just laughs, a light, wistful laugh, not meant as offensive. "I'm good," he says, chuckling. "I wouldn't wanna get in the way of your... homework." He flashes a bright grin. *plink of tooth-shine here!*
Kalinka giggles merrily. She loves being able to act her age, sometimes. The Cossack has such strict rules for her, so whenever she's able to bend around those rules, she has a little fun with it. "Hey, you know what we got to do? We should go rail-riding on skates! I have invented small device that magnetizes skates to rails!"
Sai grins again, this time enthused. "Sounds like fun, but I think I better learn how ta stand up on 'em first. And, uh, actually skate. I've never done it before." He smiles, just...reminding her he isn't at her skill level. And...yeah. The fact that she /invented/ something that would revolutionize the skating industry goes unnoted.
"It is easy!" Kalinka urges. "I will teach you. And you will not fall. I will not let you fall, okay? And once you learn, you will never want to stop...you will want to wear those skates everyplace!"
Sai chuckles, shrugging helplessly. "Yeah, okay! We should do that." Sooo happy today, as opposed to how he was the last time they spoke.
Kalinka says, "Say, did you get chance to talk to your brother, or your dad?"
Ohhhboy. Not like that came out of nowhere, though. Sai gives a 'heh', and shrugs. "Yeah. I did, actually. To my brother." (And I didn't beat him up. Goddamn Snake Man... I almost did it, but only because of what /she/ said, someday you'll regret that...)o. His inner anger is reduced to inward seething, and he doesn't allow it to show, though he's definitely more...serious. "We, uh, talked. I think we...reached an understanding." (That if he does it /again/...he better be damn well hidden.)o.
Kalinka nods slowly. "Good. You see? Blood is the tie that binds all. You may have differences with your brothers, but in the end they will want to make amends."
Sai-Tengu shrugs and hehs again, still pretty unsure there. "Yeah. I guess." (Please, please, PLEASE, change the subject. I don't want to talk about my BROTHERS.)o.
Kalinka does change the subject, in fact. Slightly. "I did talk to my brother this week," she says as the hot chocolate arrives. "Sometimes he worries me, but he tells me not to worry. Maybe someday I will introduce you to him."
Sai looks mildly surprised, but notices the hot chocolate and warms his hands on it. Mmm. Warm. NOT_COLD == DRINK_OK. He quirks an eyebrow at Kalinka, though, as he brings the cup to his lips. "You have a /brother/?" He takes a sip...only to but the cup down hurriedly and wince. "Whoa. That's hot."
Kalinka nods. "Yes, I have two brothers in fact. They are reploid-brothers. I have no human brothers or sisters. -- Careful, do not burn yourself!"
Tengu Man runs his tongue over his burned lips. Well, heck, his tongue's burned too. Owowowow! "Huh. That's gotta be weird." He winces again, wrinkling his nose. "Too hot, I know. I'll wait 'til it cools down a little. Ehehe."
Kalinka giggles. "You are too much," she flirts. "You are too cold, and then you are too hot!"
[OOC] Kalinka says, "This is why her dad likes to keep her locked away in the base. 8)"
[OOC] Tengu Man says, "I would too. ^<~"
[OOC] Tengu Man says, "If I were Cossy, that is. :)"
Tengu Man chuckles. "Yeah, I know. That's what /my brother/ says," he says, chastising her, but gently. Instead of keeping his eyes on Kalinka, his delightfully blue eyes drift down to the work in front of her. Despite his having to read upside down, and...not understanding a word of it...... never mind. He just reads the first few lines from the other side of the table.
Kalinka seems to be writing out her homework in longhand...Cyrillan characters, those weird Russian letters that look kind of backwards. When she notices you looking, she remarks... "Oh, I do plan to, er...translate it, later on. It makes more sense to me first in Russian."
Sai-Tengu just sort of shrugs, using one of those short-straws to stir his hot chocolate. He looks up at Kali, though, watching her expression. "Oh, I completely understand. I've..done that too, 'cept in Japanese. I...speak English just as well as I speak Japanese, though... A lotta my friends do that. But hey," he concedes, "I don't understand chemistry anyway." Grin.
"Chemistry is GREAT subject," Kalinka says excitedly. "You would be so amazed in the infinite ways elements can combine...and what they can DO."
Sai-Tengu chuckles, muffled by his hand over his mouth at the moment as he continues face-watching. "I didn't exactly feel the same way during school, though. Eheh. Guess I'm just not as enthusiastic about chemistry as I am for...physics, I guess..."
Kalinka nods, frowning a little in serious contemplation. "Physics is -solid- science. It is ... what is that word? Tangible. Very tangible. The rules and the laws of the universe. Everything you think you know is explained in Physics."
Tengu Man nods. "Yeah. Can't twist the rules and see what happens, right? Gotta stick with what you've got. Aerodynamics. Now /there's/ somethin' fun...at least, to me. I /love/ birdwatching. Nature's science..." He sighs. Still looking at Kalinka, too. Hmm. "Man. I can't wait to get...up there... But there's so much I have to do first. It's so annoying, I wish I could just go and start flying right now, but I know I can't." He seems to rattle directly from though, instead of shielding his response adequately. Of course, if he wanted to, he /could/ go out and fly. But something holds him back of late. Obligations, feh!
Bastion has arrived.
[Radio: (A) Disney-Masters] Epsilon CO: Star Man transmits, " Test... test... test... Owner of a Lonely Heart?"
[Radio: (A) Disney-Masters] Epsilon CO: Star Man transmits, "*ORCHESTRA HIT!*"
[OOC] Bastion says, "Don't leave m'man. ;)"
[Radio: (A) Disney-Masters] Epsilon CO: Star Man transmits, "Gaah!"
[Radio: (A) Disney-Masters] Tengu Man blinks audibly.
Kalinka folds her arms across her chest, looking at Sai. "You are not too young to go get piloting lessons," she says. "I bet you could get license, too, with time. Even if you do not have much time...take a class when you can."
[Radio: (A) Disney-Masters] Gamma CO Gemini Man transmits, "Cool. Do that over Delta's frequency."
[Radio: (A) Disney-Masters] Epsilon CO: Star Man transmits, "Heh, you like that? Happens from doing too much research about Yes."
Sai-Tengu shrugs and looks at the table, taking a swig of hot chocolate while he's at it. "Yeah. I know. I'm going to. Really. I am." (I could, too. Jerks at home don't let me practice with the Dreadskull. Grrr.)o.
Kalinka says, "Have you ever been hang gliding? If not...would you like to? It is JUST like flying!"
Saigama grins at that. "Yeah, once or twice. I'd love to again, though." A thought enters his head. "Hey, you know that new theme park?" Time to plug his own ride. Yeeees. But it may evolve into an earnest to take her out, anyway.
Kalinka hedges uncomfortably. "Oh...the Masters one, you mean?" Her memory won't let her forget what happened to her in Skull Fortress all those years ago. She puts her head down. "Could we go some place else, instead?"
Sai-Tengu frowns slightly, sighs, and shrugs. "Ooookay, suit yourself... I was gonna say, though... I hear they have one ride that /really/ makes you fly. Like, with anti-gravity and stuff..." The enthusiasm is still there, however dulled now. He soon becomes worried. "You okay there, Kali?"
Kalinka sighs. "It is...a very long story. I do not tell very many people what happened to me, but...I was, as a child, a prisoner in Skull Fortress."
Sai's eyes go wide. He hasn't actually heard much of this story. Too early for the young Master. Before his time, really. He reaches over to put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "That's...really...harsh. That must've..." Words elude him. He /lives/ there, after all. Imagining Kalinka, trapped /there/? With /his/ brothers? Oh, you poor, poor, girl. He bears a worried frown, his intent to be comforting. Kalinka tries her best to cheer him up. Why shouldn't he return the favor...? "I dunno what to say..." However. Eloquent he isn't.
"I will tell you about it," Kalinka says softly, looking saddened. "But...not now. Not here. Later, when we meet next time."
Sai-Tengu keeps the hand there. Yeah. He isn't really sure what to do next, except, maybe...pat her? Okay, that my work. He pats. "Okay. If you want to talk about it, we can..." Pat. Pat. Minor twitch.
Ballade has arrived.
Gauss Coyote has connected.
Kalinka is, at the moment, seated with a young man she knows only as 'Saigama'. "Later. Drink your hot chocolate."
Kalinka turns back to her homework, which she has spread out on a large table. She prefers to write it out longhand.
While most are down in the actual bar and restaraunt area, a single reploid is in a second floor few have access to. Carefully looking over a few tapes, Bastion sighs before moving down the steps from this second floor and comes out from just behind the bar to the main floor.
Saigama Inuwashi removes his hand from Kali's shoulder. He shouldn't get in the way of a thesis paper. He understands this. Nopenopenope! Besides. He's still learning here. He wants to observe. As ordered, he sits back and downs the cup of hot chocolate. All the while watching Kali write her paper, with a mild amount of interest. (Maybe I oughta leave.)o.
Gemini Man has arrived.
The door of the Captain's Table opens in a smooth, unusually quiet movement. Through the door, a man enters; a man in one of the most finely tailored suits in all of the Robot Masters.
The Elite Ballade moves into the establishment with his usual practiced look of neutral alertness, steps muted by his own constant pulse of white noise, timed to match his movements. He seemingly ignores Kalinka and her companion, moving to the bar and sitting off by himself. Not that it takes long to get `privacy' -- people in the vicinity seem to be encouraged to sit elsewhere as he settles in.
It's a Robot Master thing. You wouldn't understand.
Walking up to where he had spotted Kalinka and her guest, Bastion looks over the one sitting with Kalinka with a scrutiny that appears to be dangerous almost from the slight gleam in his one good optic. "Heyya Kal." He doesn't greet the other waiting for Kalinka to introduce the two.
[Radio: (F) Public] Guts Man transmits, "TOGA! TOGA! TOGA!"
Kalinka sighs. "I am sorry," she remarks apoligetically to Sai, closing her notebook. "I am not being...very good company." Remembering what the Masters did to her does that to her inner social butterfly. Ballade's appearance earns him a sullen glare...if it were up to her, those 'kind' wouldn't be welcome in here for ANY reason. But that's not up to her, that's up to...
"Bastion, good evening," Kalinka says, giving her fellow Hunter a wave.
[Radio: (F) Public] Trance transmits, "KILT! KILT! KILT!"
Flare Feline has arrived.
[Radio: (F) Public] Guts Man transmits, "You suck."
[Radio: (F) Public] Trance transmits, "Ruin your fun did I?"
Saigama follows Kali's gaze to Ballade. (Oh. ChiKUSHOU!)o. And...WHOA. There's BASTION. Yeah. Tengu remembers him. Bastion E-ringed him once. Humiliation is a thing never forgotten. He looks up slowly at Bastion, being ignored as he is. "Hi," he says, simply.
"Workin' on yer thesis still..." The phrase sounds almost a question but more like a declaration; Bastion's optic doesn't move from Kalinka for a long moment till the other at the table says something. His gaze falls toward Saigama, "I see you have a new friend, hello..." fishing for a name obviously. For now, it seems Bastion pays no heed to the newly arrived Death Incarnate who walked in.
[Radio: (F) Public] Guts Man transmits, "There is no such thing a kilt party. Only toga. Now begone miserable cretin before I crush you with the power of my thigh master!"
Death takes a cup of tea with one lump of sugar and a twist of lemon.
The DKNY stylings of Ballade sit peaceably at the bar, lifting the teacup with perfect poise and taking a precise sip before resting it on the saucer again. He produces the most recent Saturday Evening Post from hyperspace and begins to leisurely leaf through it as the conversation behind him continues, seemingly paying no heed to it.
Then again, Ballade does not typically observe the world with his optics.
[Radio: (F) Public] Trance transmits, "Of course, there's better booze at a kilt party, but simpletons such as yourself would never know that"
[Radio: (F) Public] Dr. Landon DeVry transmits, "Cease your inane prattling. I am attempting delicate work."
[Radio: (F) Public] Gemini Man transmits, "Come on. When YOU prattle inanely, WE all have to listen."
"Oh, Bastion? This is Saigama, a friend of mine. Sai, this is Bastion, he owns this place," Kalinka says, introducing the two.
[Radio: (F) Public] Gemini Man transmits, "OUR radios have off buttons." "Unlike your mouth."
[Radio: (F) Public] Trance screams at the top of her lungs. "YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
[Radio: (F) Public] Yin Yoma Byte rumbles. "...He has a point, DeVry."
For reasons undisclosed (or unthought of yet) Flare just happens to be in Torontreal tonight. And hungry. So he decides to stop into the Captain's Table, it's usually a hang-out of various sorts. Of course... last time Flare ate here, he was sitting with Iris when Sigma walked in. He never had a more uncomfortable evening in his life. But there's always chances to top that, right? For now, he just enters, and looks around.
[Radio: (F) Public] Dr. Landon DeVry transmits, "You typically are not engaged in complicated cyber-biotic proceedures that fly in the face of known science and nature, Defect."
Sai looks over at Kali briefly as she provides an answer. "Nice to meet you." He's not sure what else to say...but one thing is for sure. He's starting to get just a little overworked and a little bit paranoid. Paranoid of what? Well, at this point, paranoid of somebody figuring it all out. He taps his fingers on his cheek, and thinks on what comes next... Hey. Idea. He looks over and smiles at the will-be chemist. "Hey, Kali...? It was really nice to talk to you again... I gotta head on home, now. Hey, call me sometime, ya hear?" He smirks, throws a wary yet cheerful look at Bastion, and starts to get up...
[Radio: (F) Public] Guts Man transmits, "Kilt parties are for cross-dressers, so therefore you must be a cross-dresser.!"
[Radio: (F) Public] Trance transmits, "And you aren't?"
[Radio: (F) Public] Guts Man transmits, "Of course not, I'm not Quint."
Kalinka grins at Sai. "I will. And I WILL teach you how to skate! I will call, okay? Stay warm."
Kalinka pauses, phone in hand. "I was just telling Sasha about you! I thought your RP was totally cool...and Sasha's like, well if it was THAT good, just give a +cookie already!" She shrugs, handing you a +cookie. "Can't argue with -that- logic. Here."
Sai-Tengu responds with only a smirk, and heads out the door, past Bastion.
[Radio: (F) Public] Trance transmits, "You're a Robot Master. Guilt by association."
