Suggestions for language arts activities:

*   read a story, novel, etc, as a class

*   research a famous Texan & write a one page report about their life

*   create an illustrated time line of a famous Texan’s life

*   write a poem about a famous Texan or event in Texas history

*   write a children’s picture book about Texas

*   using the alphabet, illustrate each letter with a Texas theme

*   create an advertisement for Texas (video, “billboard”, radio, newspaper, etc)

*   write a newspaper article about a Texas town, museum, event, person, etc.

*   hold a read in and read “Texas” books

*   interview a DRT member
