"Being a gay man and, up until this week, a Republican, those comments truly summed up for me the attitude of the GOP towards the millions of gay men and women who work, raise families, pay taxes, and contribute to our society. We are hated, we are marginalized, and are basically unwanted by a party that has forsaken the principles of Abraham Lincoln and become dominated by a right-wing that falls far short of representing main-stream America."
- New Hampshire State Representative Corey Corbin on joining the Democratic Party

Thank God It's Friday
A look at some of the more interesting news happenings of the week.
Well it's been a busy week for me, but a slow one for the blog, and I apologize for the lack of updates. Perhaps
I can make it up a bit by covering a few points this morning.
Let's start with President Bush's triumphant conversation with the 9/11 committee. It was a stunning success, according
to that citadel of fair reporting FoxNews. Cheney apparently did his famous impression of a bump on a log, answering
only about 1 per cent of the questions asked:
"Ninety-nine percent of the questions were directed to the president," one of two participants in the
Oval Office meeting that spoke to Fox News said. "He answered them all ... and didn't have to turn to anyone
for guidance," said another. "He knew them all."
For example, here is how he answered the question "What steps did you take to insure the safety of the U.S.
after reading the August 6, 2001 Presidential Daily Briefing (PDB) titled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike
in the US,":
Impressive no? And how about the way he handled questions on his whereabouts on 9/11?
Wow! No wonder Fox was impressed. I could not have said it better myself. Note the way he slaps the Democrats on
the committee when asked about the alleged ties between Iraq and Al-Quada:
!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ha! That put those lousy traitors in their place eh? Damn, you almost wish that the session had been televised,
or at least a recording made....
Bush and Cheney were not under oath, and no recording of the proceedings took place. The White House said it has
no plans to report the remarks by the president and vice president -- in part, aides say, because much of the discussion
is classified.
The commission's interviews with former President Clinton and former Vice President Al Gore were recorded.
Ah well. Thankfully by the time history has it's say, we will all be dead.
