11 Michael enlisted before his brother Henry. Records show Michael Shenberger enlisted in Harrisburg, Pa on 6 August 1862; Company C, 130th Regiment, Volunteers of Pennsylvania. He was discharged on 21 May 1863 at Harrisburg. Michael was 5 ft. 11 inches; blue eyes, hair color light; farmer and laborer. Records show he was in the battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Witness to this was W. H. Crumbling and William W. Dietz of Bolivar Heights, Virginia. On October 1862, records show Michael was sick in Belle Plains, Virginia. He is also listed in war medical records as being sick in Falmouth, Virginia with lung infection. A Captain Thomas b. Griffith reports on 25 September 1862, Michael is ill due to lung problem. On May 1863, Samuel Boll, a neighbor, reports Michael was run over by soldiers who steped on Michael's back during battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia. Samuel Boll is reported to have helped Michael to safety.
