     Johannes 'John' Shenberger was born on 23 September 1804. He was the son of Johannes Balthasar Schönberger Jr and Catharina Ziegler. Johannes 'John' Shenberger was baptized on 28 April 1805 at Canadochly Church, Lower Windsor Township, York County, Pennsylvania. Sponsor was Baltzer Schenberger.4 He married Elizabeth Liebhart. Johannes 'John' Shenberger married Maria Liebhart on 16 December 1830.5,6 Johannes 'John' Shenberger died 31 January 1848 at age 43. He was buried in 1848 at Canadochly Cemetery at Lower Windsor Township, York County, Pennsylvania.7 His estate was probated on 14 July 1849.
     Johannes, or John as he was to be called, was confirmed at the Canadochly Church on 30 August 1818. This was done when a child reached the age of 14 years. John's first wife was Elizabeth "Elisa" Liebhart. Elizabeth died at an early age of 28 years, 8 months, 24 days. At the time of Elizabeth's death, John and Elizabeth had one child, Herich "Henry". John then married Maria Leibhart, who was the sister of Elizabeth. The remainder of John's children were born by Maria.

     Michael Shenberger was born on 26 December 1836 at Lower Windsor Township, York County, Pennsylvania.5 He was the son of Johannes 'John' Shenberger and Maria Liebhart. Michael Shenberger was baptized on 19 June 1840 at Canadochly Church at Lower Windsor Township, York County, Pennsylvania.5 He married Caroline Ferree on 17 March 1864 at St. Pauls Evangelical Luthern at York, York County, Pennsylvania.6,7 Michael Shenberger died 26 March 1915 at age 78.8,9,10 He was buried at Lower Windsor Township, York County, Pennsylvania.11
     
Michael enlisted before his brother Henry. Records show Michael Shenberger enlisted in Harrisburg, Pa on 6 August 1862; Company C, 130th Regiment, Volunteers of Pennsylvania. He was discharged on 21 May 1863 at Harrisburg. Michael was 5 ft. 11 inches; blue eyes, hair color light; farmer and laborer. Records show he was in the battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Witness to this was W. H. Crumbling and William W. Dietz of Bolivar Heights, Virginia. On October 1862, records show Michael was sick in Belle Plains, Virginia. He is also listed in war medical records as being sick in Falmouth, Virginia with lung infection. A Captain Thomas b. Griffith reports on 25 September 1862, Michael is ill due to lung problem. On May 1863, Samuel Boll, a neighbor, reports Michael was run over by soldiers who steped on Michael's back during battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia. Samuel Boll is reported to have helped Michael to safety.12
