Aikido is a modern martial art invented in the mid-1900's as an expression of Morehei Uesheba's (O'Sensei) belief in a peaceful and loving society. He created Aikido as a peaceful art that should only be used for defense. Using physics and movement, the Aikidoka uses the attackers energy or strength against him. Because Aikido uses the attackers strength, Aikido is a perfect art for both men and woman regardless of age.
