WELCOME again...
to another
doggone good Texas mystery!

The Houston Health Department's Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care is still run by Dr. Duncan A. MacDonell. He has a brand new boss, a woman this time. He hasn't been fired, yet, but as usual, he's treading on thin ice.

Because of his previous run-ins with the departmental hierarchy, the city council, and the mayor's office, Dr. Mac has decided to take his foot off the gas. He believes he will be happier, and maybe even live longer, if he indulges some of his favorite pastimes, and fishing has always been one of them. He purchased a modest bass boat and a small motorhome and is determined to take a day off once in a while
to try the lakes north of Houston.

Late on a Friday night Mac's well laid plan takes a significant turn as
he waits in front of the Kingwood Country Club, hoping he and Jeannie can get up to Lake Livingston before the sun sets. Little does he realize that his destiny is predetermined. Lurking nearby is a threat, not only to a simple fishing trip, but to the course of the executive branch of the federal government for several years to come.

INDEX of SUSPICION is another wild and woolly thriller set, once again, on the mean streets of Houston. But this time it will also involve the environs of the south Texas border, the laboratories of the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia... and this time Dr. Mac will become intimately involved with the good offices of the FBI, the Secret Service, and even the White House itself. The story is a spine-tingling adventure chuckablock with eccentric and dangerous characters, and, as you might expect, teeming with animal lore...loose livestock in the big city... and stray cats... yes, plenty of stray cats.
