My Favorite Authors and Works of FanFiction

Vincent Seifert

The Taming of the Horse and Centaur are, in my estimation, THE original-flavor continuations of Ranma ½ and the Ranma and Akane lovestory. The Taming of the Horse arc is complete, and Centaur is the in-progess sequel. You would be hard-pressed to find a more well-crafted, entertaining, and satisfying work of fanfiction in any series. Also check out his FireTripper and All-Purpose Cultural Cat-Girl Nuku Nuku fics, too. Vince is a great friend and an A-list writer. Don't pass it up!

June "KaraOhki" Geraci

June is a multiple award-winning author of primarily Ranma ½ fanfiction. Her A Change of Scene is another fine and influential continuation of the Ranma ½ manga storyline, and it can be suspenseful and a little gritty at times. June is a wonderful storyteller and a fine writer, and you should definitely read her material. Be sure to check out Breaking Free.

Douglas MacDougall

Doug is one of my favorite writers. His signature work, The Nature of the Curse, is a quirky and highly entertaining journey into the less well-known "facts" about Ranma's and the others' Jusenkyou curses. The misunderstandings that follow these revelations are hilarious and thought-provoking. A definite must-read. Also check out The Perfect Excuse, one of the crème de la crème of Ranma ½ spamfics.

Gary Kleppe

One of the grand old men of anime-manga fanfiction, Gary's works run the gamut from über-spamfic to dark and angsty. Gary is also one of those folks who spend freely of their time keeping the fanfiction community coherent, and he deserves our thanks. One of Gary's current works is a marvelously-executed fusion of Ranma ½ and I Dream of Jeannie, entitled I Dream of Ranma. O_o

Phil

A relatively new author, Phil has brought us an intriguing and moody story revolving around Ranma's hitherto unknown demonic heritage, An Awakening of Demons, which I highly recommend. Phil's works are archived at various places, but the link on his name will guide you to the rest.

DB Sommer

DB writes voluminously in at least two popular series, Ranma ½ and Tenchi Muyo!. From his epic Shampoo ½ to his quirky and hilarious Tenchi Muyo! fic, Vacation Days, DB shows himself to be adept at different scenarios, characters, and moods. Treat yourself and read his stuff. 12/01/2000: his latest work, Should Old Acquaintance Be Forgot, is a marvelous and compelling crossover between The Dirty Pair and Iria: Zeiram the Animation.

Kevin D. Hammel

Honor and Love has grown to become one of the better known Ranma ½ — Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon crossover fanfictions, and I have enjoyed reading, commenting on, and pre-reading Kevin's fine series. It's also one of the few pleasing and plausible non-canonic Ranma pairings out there. Also check out On Her Own and Twice in a Millennium.

allyn yonge

Allyn is one of the most unique voices in anime fanfiction. The tremendous amount of research that goes into the writing of his fiction is awe-inspiring and is reflected in the crafting of careful and copious detail. His characterizations are wonderfully idiosyncratic. Just a joy to read. Check out Love is a Battlefield and Sukeban Senshi for starters, then read the rest. You won't be disappointed.

Krista Perry

Hearts of Ice has the rare distinction of being perhaps the only work of Ranma ½ fanfiction that virtually everyone in Ranma fanfic has read and for which everyone anxiously awaits the next installment. It is one of the hallmark works of anime fanfiction.

Libby Thomas

Whoa! What is there to say? A Duet of Pigtails, the premiere Ranma ½ — Magic Knight Rayearth crossover fanfiction. At times dark, gritty, and violent, but in all, extremely well-crafted. Read it.

Nicholas "Nightelf" Leifker

One of the finest authors in Ranma fanfiction. The Iris Tales, a set of fanfiction stories dealing with a permanently female Ranma, are masterworks. Nick is high on the must-read list.

Eric Hallstrom

Eric is the author of the famous (and infamously stalled :) Chima Baifeng Shengshan Chun, otherwise known as Ranma and Akane: A Love Story. Eric writes with a style and flair that must be experienced.

Unipeg's Home Page

This is the home page of G.E. Gordon, Jr., and it consists mainly of story ideas he's had and posted. My The Accidental Goddess was one of his story ideas, originally entitled New Life ½.

Andrew Norris

A fellow fanfiction writer, concentrating on Ranma ½, with a smattering of Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon and Tenchi Muyo!

Eric James'
Azhrael's Domain

A good, general anime-manga fanfiction archive, it contains a number of significant works as well as good new stuff and a list of other archives. Fanfiction can be looked up by author or title. Azhrael's Domain is not limited to any specific anime or manga series.

Troy Thomas' Webpage

The fanfiction of Troy J. Thomas. Includes original works, as well as links to other fanfictions and fanfiction websites.

David Choi

The homepage of David Choi. It contains his works of fanfiction and a handful of links to other authors.

Seth no Baka

The personal page of Seth Robertson. It includes a short bio and a whole bunch of assorted links. The thing of interest to fanfic writers and readers is his rating of fanfic authors. One doesn't have to agree, but it's interesting, nonetheless. ^_^

James M. Zema

The thing of interest is the multitude of links. James and his sister are also Ranma fanfiction authors.

Chess Com'bytes' Desk

Chess is a fanfiction author.

Ashura Productions

This page hosts fanfics and has an extension fanfic link page.

Lord Overon's Anime Page

The homepage of the fanfic author Lord Overon. The Heart of Ranma Trilogy is a very nice work dealing with a permanently female Ranma.

Kim's Kool Links

Just what it says it is, and there a LOT of links represented here, arranged by category. Watch out for the three to four pop-up windows. Such has been known to crash a browser.

S2: Souzousei Station!

A new fanfiction archive maintained by Michael Raymond Vendittelli. It is rather new, and I understand that they are trying to move away from Fortune City and the numerous pop-up windows that plague FC sites. Souzousei Station! is currently (12/15/2000) featuring my fic, Cast a Second Line into the Sea.

David Calvarese

David's homepage for his RPG muck characters and selected fanfics of other authors.

Archives and Miscellany

The TASS Ranma Fanfic Archive

The Tucson Animation Screening Society's archive of Ranma fanfiction generated by posts of Ranma fanfiction to the rec.arts.anime.creative newsgroup. This is your first stop for Ranma fanfiction.

The Penultimate Ranma Fanfic Index

Rakhal Stormwarden's archive of Ranma fanfiction. Rakhal claims to have read every single fanfic in his index -- my hat's off to him. The archive contains statistics on the fics, author homepages, and links to find the fic.

rec.arts.anime.creative
Fanfic Archive

The rec.arts.anime.creative newsgroup is the single most important venue for the distribution of anime fanfiction. All series are welcome, and past posts can be found at the archive, categorized by anime series. Everything is G-Zipped, by the way, so you'll need a compression utility to decompress the files.

Ranma Fanfic Awards

The monthly and annual awards for the best in Ranma fanfiction. To be eligible, a fic must be posted to rec.arts.anime.creative.

FFML Mini-Archive

This is, I think, an archive generated automatically from posts to the FanFiction Mailing List. It archives all fanfiction posted to the list since late 1996. If you know the author's name or the name of the fic you're searching for, this is a great resource. If you do a keyword search producing more than one or two pages of hits, prepare to be stonewalled by problems with the search engine. Otherwise, this is a valuable tool for list members.

The Tenchi Muyo Fan Fiction Archive

The one-stop for Tenchi fanfiction, maintained by Aldrich "GenSao" Bautista. Fair warning: roughly three-quarters of the content is demonstrably poor to awful. You'll need to surf through the offerings a bit to find good reading, but it's there. I would suggest reading the works of Thomas Doscher to start.

fanfiction.net

An archive handling fanfiction of all genres, not just anime. If you're hungry for it, it's probably here in some fashion.
