| Hunting info and Links |
As an introduction, I only started hunting in the mid-1990's. Nobody in my extended family hunts, nor did most of people I knew. However, when I promoted to Sergeant back in 1989, I transferred to the jail. The only positive memories I have from that period of time come from gifts of deer meat from several of the folks I worked with. They had made all kinds of sausage, jerky, slim jims, steaks, you name it. I never knew how much I liked the taste of deer. I started trying to invite myself along on hunts, and eventually shot my own deer. The whole learning process has been great fun. Last year, I took the two boys to West Texas for a Texas Parks and Wildlife drawn hunt, where they both harvested their first deer!! All the meat was gone by August :(
So now I have moved from begging to hunt with other folks to finding my own lease. I have also tried some dayhunts with experiences ranging from okay to pretty darn horrid. This page is essentially a way for me to research and categorize the various opportunities for a Houston City Boy. Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed. If this page helps you in any way, please sign the guestbook or send me an e-mail and let me know. Good Hunting All!
