Hiking - Books, Links, Rants: For those times when you just can't hunt... hike!!! :) (It's good practice) |
| Living in Houston, we are blessed to have several state
parks and National Forests within two hours drive. We have been
getting better about making time to go to these places and take time to
just walk and look.. a very hard thing for urbanites like us with all the
little daily imperatives (soccer, track, work, television, etc. etc.
etc....) Time and the kids' almost got away from us.
Luckily, I got talked into going hunting several years ago, which reminded
me how much fun I had as a kid the few times I was in the woods.
So.. we have been making the effort to get out and play in nature more
often. We started with overnights at Sam Houston State Park and Brazos Bend State Park and have never had a bad experience at either. Now that the kids are getting older, I would like to try and do some point to point hiking... either in Colorado or West Texas. This page is the start of that research (and learning a little bit more HTML on the way :) Please feel free to e-mail me with any comments or suggestion. Thanks, Jay |
