Model Team & More

One day I hope this page will have lots of information about that coolest of Lego lines, Model Team, as well as pics of older stuff like the Hobby Sets released in Europe in the '70s. But for now here's something even older...

Set 329

This is Lego set #329, built in the U.S. by Samsonite in the late 1960's. It was part of the "Model Makers" line, which featured numerous trucks with the smaller 2x2 wheels, plus a really nice airplane, a Jeep with small spoked wheels, and a few buildings. Check out the pics on Joe Lauher's Samsonite Era page (late '60s catalogs). I'd always thought the Hobby Sets and a couple of bendy-arm sets from the same era were the first to sport those nifty 4x4 spoked wheels. Obviously I was wrong. In addition to being a pretty cool model, this set has one of the funniest alternate models I've ever seen. Check out the picture on the right below.

Please write me if you know anything more about this set or others of its kind.

A sporty little roadster

Now that's what I call an alternate model!
