I
was born in Spicer, a town of 1,000 people in west central Minnesota.
I have three brothers and three sisters. After graduating from New London-Spicer
High School in 1989 I attended the Savannah College of Art and Design
in Savannah, Georgia. I graduated with a B.F.A. in illustration in 1993.
I then moved to Minneapolis in hopes to begin a career in illustration.
Since then I've done mainly editorial and children's book illustration
for clients such as: Random House, Clarion Books, Scholastic, Harcourt
Brace, Spider Magazine, Peaceable Kingdom Press, General Mills, 3M,
and Medtronics. I recently illustrated Counting Sheep, my first picture
book for children. I will have two new picture books coming out this
fall: Cowboy Sam and those Confounded Secrets published by Clarion and
Johnny Appleseed published by Random House.
Things
I enjoy outside of working are playing league softball, playing hockey,
cross-country skiing, running, reading, camping, and visiting my family
in Spicer. There's also a beautiful lake in Spicer which we go boating
on in the summer. I recently got engaged to my girlfriend Anna and we're
planning to get married in the Spring of 2002.
