MAJ Willie Haigler is the SAI for the JROTC program at Channelview High School. He assumed this position after retiring with more than 21 years of service.
MAJ Haigler received his commission through the ROTC program at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg South Carolina and his Masters Degree from Troy State University, Troy Alabama. After completing the Air Defense Artillery basic course, he was assigned as platoon leader 11th ADA Brigade, Fort Bliss, Texas.
Following his assignment at Fort Bliss, Texas, MAJ Haigler transferred to the Transportation Corps and after completing his advanced course he commanded the 76th Transportation Company, 37th TRANSCOM in Pirmasen, West Germany.
MAJ Haigler left Germany after 3 years and headed to Alabama A&M University as a Assistant Professor of Military Science, Huntsville Alabama. There he taught Senior ROTC and headed the Recruiting and Ranger Challenge teams. The next stop in his career found him at Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he served in multiple positions including Brigade S4, 18th FA Brigade, Corps Transportation Officer, 2d Corp Material Management Center and the Group S3, 46th Corps Support Group.
After his assignment at Fort Bragg, MAJ Haigler took an assignment in Korea where he served a one year tour at the Battlefield Coordination Detachment, Osan Korea. He rejoined his family when he was chosen to be the Battalion Executive Officer for the 838th Transportation Battalion in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
MAJ Haigler made his final move when he departed Rotterdam and accepted a position as Headquarters Commandant and Operations Office for Fifth United States Army at Fort Sam Houston. He served in this position for three years before moving to United States Army South (USARSO) on Fort Sam Houston where he served as the USARSO Plans Officer for area of operation covering most of South America.
MAJ Haigler is joined by his wife Diahann and two daughters Olivia (16) and Sabrina (15).
