SFC Duane Adams resides in La Porte with his wife, Michelle, and children, Curtis (17), Amanda (16), and Taylor (10). He also has a son, Matthew (21), now serving in the Army; a daughter, Chavah (20), attending Palo Alto College in San Antonio; and a son, Christopher (18) and daughter, Chanae (11), both attending Gateway Christian School in San Antonio. Duane retired from the Army after more than 20 years of service in November of 2001. He now instructs JROTC at Channelview High School.

While serving in the Army, SFC Adams spent four years at Ft Leonard Wood, Missouri; two years at Presidio of Monterey, California; three years in Augsburg, Germany; five years at Ft Bragg, North Carolina; four years at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, Texas; and three years at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. He is a military intelligence (MI) cryptologic linguist (Russian). His claim is that the MI field’s average intelligence is levels above every other field in the Army and that military intelligence is NOT an oxymoron. These assertions may be true, but, SFC Adams, you’re still a dork!

He’s been affiliated with the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) as a tennis instructor for several years; mainly teaching group lessons with a Home School Organization in San Antonio and subbing for the pro at Baywood Country Club in Pasadena. Duane feels that Martina Hingus is the example of the perfect tennis player: one who can hit from anywhere on the court. She truly has the type of all-court game and wisdom of play to which all tennis players should aspire.

Thomas Garza (16) joined the family on a temporarily permanent basis (??) and is the perfect step-child (he does all the chores...just kidding). For a few days this year SFC Adams had three 16-year-olds in the household. How did he manage that?

He’s a member of Fairmont Park Baptist Church where his youngest, Taylor, was the last to be baptized a couple of years ago and he serves as a mentor and smal group leader.
