I bought this Roadrunner in 1982. It was all primer gray, with 14" Magnum 500 wheels. It is a fairly well equipped car. It has a 383ci 335hp, Automatic Transmission, Bucket seats with console, Tinted windows, Air Grabber, 3.91:1 sure grip 8 3/4" rear, Chrome exhaust tips, Am-Fm roll knob radio w/3 speaker dash and fader, Performance Hood Treatment, Body side stripes. In 1984 I painted it a special mix bright yellow and rebuilt the engine to factory specs with the exception of boring it .030. I chrome plated just about everything ie; air cleaner, fan, pulleys, brackets and linkages. I entered the car in the Houston Autorama in November of 1984. The car really looked great as you can see in the above picture. I showed it a bit then I begin to drive it daily. The daily grind took its toll on the car. Being that the body work had been done before I bought the car, I didn't know how much bondo had really been laid. I found out as the bad body work begin to crack and bubble. So I decided to do the job right and stripped the car down to a shell. I sent it out to be turned over and media blasted and the undercarriage painted. As the car sat up for awhile, life went on. My wife and I had our first child and the car got put on the back burner. It began a life of being moved in and out of the garage as the years went by. Jump ahead 15 years and a few kids later. My teenage son begins to push me to do something with it. I slowly begin the long and painful process of trying to remember where all the parts are and where they go. I had lots of parts wrapped up in a furniture pad in the trunk, well in those years of being moved in and out of the garage, everything in the trunk got wet and anything aluminum corroded and everything metal rusted. In late 1999 I moved the car up to the shop I work at and began the restoration. Thank God for eBay!!! I have found many parts that I was missing or that were destroyed by water. I will post pics as the project progress. I am going to build this car to drive, not sit in my garage. There are several upgrades that are going to be made. I am adding Mopar Performances 4 wheel disc brakes, power brake booster, 15" Magnum 500 wheels, gas shocks, rear sway bar and a H-pipe. Maybe a few other things as they catch my fancy. I am painting it 2001 Dodge Truck Flame Red with performance hood stripes. I am not going to replace the vinyl top. I plan on using very little plastic filler, I plan on using lead were ever I can. I am posting pics as the restoration progresses.

(03/05/2001) These first pics are of the car sitting at the metal strippers, most of the paint has been soda blasted off and it is getting ready to head off for the big dip.

(03/24/2001) These next pics are of the body after being "dipped". Just look at all that clean bare metal!!

While I was waiting on the body to be completed, I built this rotisserie from plans I found on the web.

You may have noticed the missing RH rear quarter panel. Well, there is a long story about that, but rest assured that I have one to replace it with.

How about a few engine pics?

(07/01/2001) Its a shame no one will be able to see this once the car is finished.

(07/15/2001) I got my heater box and parking brake mounted. It took help from my friends to remember how the under dash insulation went.

(04/13/2002) After almost a year of sitting and waiting until things at work slowed enough for me to start on this again, my car is ready to ship off to the body shop to have the quarters replaced.

(08/29/2002) I shot some new pics of the progress as of yet. The right quarter is being tacked in place, the speaker deck and rear filler panel are ready to install and we decided to go ahead and replace the trunk floor. Things are moving slow, but I'm in no real hurry.

(03/17/2003) Here is a pic of my front disc brake setup. Aluminum hubs help make this setup weight about half of the O.E. setup.

(04/25/2003) My car is slowly coming together, today I took some pictures of what has been done so far. The LH quarter has been finished, the RH quarter still has to be patched but has been aligned and welded, the trunk floor is finished and the trunk extensions are in place, the speaker deck and trunk filler are ready to get welded in place.

(04/25/2003) I have made a change of plans and am sitting the matching numbers engine and transmission aside for now. I have decided to build a 383 stroker engine. I am using a 70 HP block which has been bored .030", 440 steel crank which has had the mains turned down for the 383 block, 440 LY rods, custom Diamond pistons and Edelbrock aluminum heads. I am keeping this engine stock appearing so I will be retaining my Air Grabber and HP manifolds. In order to get the most out of this combo, I am using a "Mr. Sixpack" cam which was designed by Bob Karakashian (aka Mr. Sixpack) to make maximum power while using HP manifolds and a full exhaust.
